Educative mentoring in sport coaching: a reciprocal learning process

Educative mentoring positions mentors and mentees as co-learners within a collaborative relationship, while emphasising reciprocal learning. However, research exploring educative is limited to teacher-mentors, restricting our understanding of the potential learning opportunities an stance provides in other occupational fields. Consequently, aim this was explore sport coach mentors, with specific focus on whether they were able learn reciprocally from their two-way process. As part wider project, semi-structured interviews conducted 10 employed by governing body, interview transcripts subject reflexive thematic analysis. Findings indicate that when adopted mentor, are engage mentees, which results possibilities for growth professional development. Practical implications mentor training discussed.
